Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan has announced the donation of tens of thousands of pounds from the sale of a book and art sale held last year to celebrate his 70th birthday to Plan International in India.

The charity's Because I am a Girl campaign tackles issues such as forced marriage and sexual violence and Bachchan said he'd been spurred into action by recent high profile sex attacks in the country.
